dharam yudhha

kewal sethi

dharam yudhha supreme court has ordered that salwa judum in chhattisgarh should be disarmed. in fact the indian express headline is 'salwa judum illegal, scrap it'. the supreme court directs chhatisgarh government "to immediately cease and desist from usimg SPOs in any manner or form in any activities, directly or inmdirectly aimed at controlling countering, mitigating or otherwise eliminating maoist/ naxalite activities". in other words the suprme court has called for dharam yudha. the non combatants should be left alone. it is the police versus naxalites. either they kill or get killed. but in no way, they should involve the "poor. mostly illiterate, youngsters". it is very fair directive that non combatants should not be involved. in fact it would be even better if it was one against one a la arjun vs. karan or duryodhan vs. bhim. the outcome can decide the fate of the naxalite movement. it is hoped that those who filed the PLI against salwa judum will now persuade the naxalites to abide by the ruling of the supreme court and keep the non combatants out of the struggle. no more kangaroo courts, beheading of villagers or forcing them to pay taxes to naxalites. it is naxalites vs. police. either they kill or get killed. no ambushes, no mining of roads, no mid night raids from either side. (it does not apply to baba ram dev who is not a naxalite)
